Meet Xavier Torres: Colleague of The Morning Star Company since 2014

Xavier Torres has been part of the Morning Star story since July 2014, when he joined as a seasonal dispatcher for The Morning Star Trucking Company. Over the past decade, he has embraced every opportunity to learn, gaining experience in transplanting, harvesting, and trucking operations. Xavier reflects fondly on those years, not just for the skills he developed but for the relationships he built along the way. In September 2023, he took on a new challenge as a full-time Accounts Receivables colleague at the Morning Star Packing Company in Williams, California. Although nervous at first, Xavier quickly adapted to his new role and now excels, contributing to the company’s success while continually expanding his skills.

Xavier’s journey with Morning Star is more than just professional; it’s personal. His connection to the company began long before he officially joined the team. As a child, Xavier watched his mother, Estella, work as a tractor driver for Cal Sun Grower Services, a Morning Star affiliate, often getting to visit her at the fields. His father, Ignacio, also worked in agriculture and at a young age, they instilled in him that a strong work ethic is essential for achieving your goals and success in life.

Family plays an essential role in Xavier’s life. His parents, now retired, cherish time spent together. Although many of Xavier’s siblings are older and were already starting their own families when he was growing up, he treasures this time together. Family gatherings bring laughter, lasting memories, and, most importantly, delicious food. Xavier counts his mother’s tamales and enchiladas among his favorites, including her salsa which at times is made with tomatoes sourced from the same fields that supply Morning Star.

Beyond his work and family life, Xavier is a man of many passions. On weekends, he enjoys selling purses at local vendor events, an endeavor that combines his entrepreneurial spirit with his love of meeting new people. He thrives in these settings, making meaningful connections and sharing his kind, thoughtful energy with everyone he meets. At home, Xavier channels his creativity into baking, crafting delicious treats like cakes, pies, and his signature butter brickle candy. His outdoor hobbies include tending to his vibrant flower garden, capturing snapshots of nature, and sneaking treats to the friendly horses that live behind his house.

Travel is another important part of Xavier’s life. This past fall, he ventured to New York City, where he explored iconic landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty, attended Broadway shows, and reflected at the National September 11 Memorial. True to his laid-back nature, Xavier approached the trip with minimal planning, letting the city guide his experiences day by day. The result was a memorable adventure filled with spontaneity and discovery. Looking ahead, he is eagerly anticipating a trip to Hawaii, a destination that resonates with his love for the beach. Long-term, he dreams of owning a vacation home on the Mexican coast, a place where he can unwind and embrace the tranquility of the ocean.

Calm, kind, and collected, Xavier embodies the essence of what makes Morning Star a remarkable community. Whether he’s helping a colleague navigate a challenge, spending quality time with his family, or enjoying the simple joys of life, Xavier leaves a lasting impression on everyone around him. His journey is one of hard work, gratitude, and a deep appreciation for both personal and professional growth, making him a true cornerstone of the Morning Star family.
